Michel Rolland, born in Libourne, France, is a Bordeaux-based oenologist, with hundreds of clients across 13 countries and influencing wine style around the world. It is his consultancies outside France that have set him apart from all but a handful of his countrymen. Michel Rolland’s first clients included the Bordeaux Châteaux Troplong Mondot, Angélus, and Beau-Séjour Bécot. The red wine of Chateau La Grande Clotte is aged in a combination of one and two year old, used oak barrels and has a much larger production as it’s close to 4,000 cases per year.

The vineyard is located in the Lussac St. Emilion, satellite appellation. However, because the rules of the appellation allow only for the production of red wine. The red wine of Chateau La Grande Clotte is aged in a combination of one and two year old, used oak barrels and has a much larger production as it’s close to 4,000 cases per year. The 8.4 hectare vineyard of Chateau La Grande Clotte is planted the red wine, 7 hectares are planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The terroir is clay, gravel, sand and limestone soils. The vines are now obtaining a good age, as they were planted in 1992.
